Secondary/High SChool Seniors Scholarship Program

Guidelines

Purpose:

To recognize academic excellence and achievement and to support continued academic pursuit.

Eligibility:

Graduating senior secondary/high school students during the year of application or award. Applicants must be from parents of Obizi Kingdom or Autonomous Community, Ezinihitte, Mbaise, Imo State.

Scholarship Program Fields of Priority Focus:

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)

Awards:

An award recipient receives tuition scholarship (₦160,000) with evidence of admission to an accredited 4-year college or university for one year, renewable with minimum performance of A or B+ or Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 on a 5-point scale, or 3.5 on a 4-point scale.

Award Requirements/Criteria:
  • Academic achievement Records – An applicant must have a minimum score of 380 in the JAMB exam; evidence of offer of admission to a four-year college or university in the chosen STEM field of interest.
  • Recommendations – An applicant must provide two letters of recommendation from nonrelatives, preferably from high school principals, teachers, or civic community leaders.
  • Essay/Statement of Career Goals – A Statement of Purpose of between 500 and 1000 words in length to include but not limited to the following:
    • Brief description of applicant’s personal life experience
    • Career goals
    • Awards/academic or other note-worthy honors or achievements (public/community or volunteer service, etc.)
    • High school activities – extra-curricular, sports, club memberships, and any leadership roles played
    • *Digital files related to the above information must be submitted with application.*

Application Process:

Applicants must submit the following items: a formal letter of application addressed to the Okezie Education Foundation Scholarship Committee, enclosing all the items required in the guideline, including:

  1. Completed scholarship application Form
  2. A copy of official WAEC result
  3. A copy of the JAMB result
  4. A copy of a letter of admission from the university
  5. *Digital files of award requirements and criteria required when submitting application.*

Application Time:

Application opens June 10, with closing deadline of July 15.

Additional Instructions:

To be considered, your letter with all the required information must be received no later than 5:00 pm on the deadline date.

Please note that only applications submitted through this portal will be considered. Hard copies of any documents sent to the office location address will not be considered. All interested eligible applicants are advised to complete the e-application form online and upload all the required documents as requested at this web address. Please note that all required documents must be in PDF down-loadable format.

Notification of Awards:

Successful and non-successful applicants will be notified by August 5 by email.

CHECKLIST OF REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Scholarship application
  2. Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives, preferrably from high school teachers, principal, vice-principal, or community civic leaders.
  3. A copy of an acceptance letter from an approved college or university
  4. A copy of the WAEC result
  5. A copy of your score on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam
  6. An essay/statement of career goals, personal experiences and achievements
  • STATEMENT OF ACCURACY:

    I understand that if chosen as a scholarship winner, according to the Okezie Education Foundation Scholarship policy, I must provide evidence of enrollment/registration at the post-secondary institution of my choice before scholarship funds can be disbursed
